Occupy Space present an exhibition of work by Eoin Francis McCormack and Brian O’Shea

by Applebox Media

Occupy Space tonight present an exhibition of work by Eoin Francis McCormack and Brian O’Shea. The show is the culmination of a three-week residency in which the gallery became a place of experimentation, creation and exhibition.

The artists entertain themselves with the notion of being “workmen”. Crack of dawn, lunchbox in hand. The work is construction based but a lack of training defines the aesthetic. It is about the art of doing, being busy, looking busy and taking as many tea breaks as possible in one day. Machines, submarines, ghosts, plenty of paint and two workmen. Two workmen who have pig headed devotion by day and whiskey dicks by night.

Eoin Francis McCormack and Brian O’Shea graduated from The Limerick School of Art and Design in June of this year. They are the recipients of the first residency at Occupy Space. They will be in conversation regarding the residency and exhibition on Saturday 4th September at 1.30pm.

Milford Harvest Fair 2010 – 25 years of Fundraising for Milford Hospice

by Applebox Media

Milford’s Harvest Fair in its Jubilee year was attended by thousands of local people, and supporters who had traveled considerable distances to support the work of Milford Care Centre.

The site for this year’s Milford Harvest Fair was the Unigolf Complex in Plassey. The thirteen acre tarmac site was home for the day to one of the largest tented villages seen in the Mid West Region in recent times. The event focused this year on family fun and value.

Eamonn Ryan, Harvest Fair Chairman for the past 25 years, complimented the people who year after year attend the Fair and help to ensure that the event is the largest and best run event of its kind in the country. He also thanked the organiseing committee and their team.

Appeals for donations of goods of all kinds from Bric a Brac to Cakes, did not fall on deaf ears, with kind donations from the general public the fair was overflowing with bargains for visitors.

The Kiddie’s Korner was relocated and extended this year to cover an area of 2,500 sq yards and the displays of vintage cars and machinery were strategically placed to ensure that they got the maximum exposure. This year on view was a Threshing Machine, around 150 Classic / Vintage cars, an equal number of Engines that were the technology of the late 19th / early 20th Century, a variety of old tractors and farming implements, ex army vehicles and trucks were all on display in their newly designed compound.

In 2010, Milford Care Centre continues to develop its range of In-patient and Hospice At Home Services provided to patients and their families throughout Counties Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary.
